inSSIDer is a WiFi optimization and troubleshooting tool. It scans for wireless networks with your WiFi adapter, so you can visualize their signal strengths, and what channels they are using. It also lists a lot of useful information about each network. inSSIDer also listens for raw radio frequency activity with your Wi-Spy, which is a special device called a "spectrum analyzer". This helps us see how busy each channel really is (not just how many networks are on a channel).

Additionally, MetaGeek Plus and Pro customers can use a compatible adapter to unlock packets mode. Packets mode provides a more detailed breakdown of channel WiFi utilization down to the APs and clients operating nearby. Packets mode will also discover and associate clients to the radio (BSSID) they are connected to. WiFi Data is also updated at more rapid interval when in packets mode; making it easy to locate APs and active clients based on signal strength.
