Record all mouse actions and repeat accurately.
If you use your computer daily, you might have thought about how much time you spend doing the same things over and over again. Mouse Recorder is a tool designed to automate tasks you perform with your mouse by letting you record the steps and replay them easily. While it worked for some tasks, others weren't so easily reproduced.
The small interface holds only a few options, including the two main buttons, Record and Repeat. We liked that each button includes a keyboard shortcut to start the processes, as well. The rest of the interface lets you fine-tune how a recording is implemented, with options to repeat once or multiple times and to set the speed and delay times between each repeat. There's even an option to shut down your computer when the recording stops. At the bottom of the interface it lists your saved recordings by name. We started with a simple task of opening a Web browser and then a bookmarked site. It worked exactly as expected when the screen remained the same in replay as it was in recording; but when, for example, a browser window was already opened, it simply went to whatever window was on top and repeated the actions there. In one case, it was a Word document, and we ended up with the Save As option for our open doc. Same actions, but a different result. Mouse Recorder doesn't capture any other activity such as keyboard strokes, although the publisher offers tools that will do both.
