Easy Vista Manager Specifications
|
Get access to hidden options of Windows Vista to tweak, optimize, and tune up.
This toolbox does a good job of directing your tweaks to all the hidden nooks and crannies of Vista.
Easy Vista Manager launches a well-organized, tastefully designed interface that's easy to navigate with dropdown menus for each tweaking category: Information, Hardware, Software, Network, Security, and Windows. The Help feature is also well-organized and full of useful guidance.
This package performed well in our tests. We liked that it suggested creating a Restore Point with its first launch (although, for some reason, it was unable to create one automatically), which suggests a cautious approach toward tweaking a system. Each of its categories displayed a wealth of detail about our system and pointed to many areas for tweaking that we wouldn't normally consider, such as adjusting the mouse's double-click sensitivity, increasing the USB polling interval to encourage easier power-saving launches, and launching each Internet Explorer instance with a separate process to prevent a crash in one window from affecting another. Of course, applying some of these tweaks requires a reboot, which always slows down work, but the long-term benefits outweigh the immediate inconvenience.
