Save materials by optimizing your cutting plans.
Optimik is a free tool that determines where to make cuts to maximize material such as wood, textiles, or sheet metal. It reduces waste and cutting by aligning the patterns to be cut in the most geometrically optimized combination possible. Optimik also saves waste materials in shapes that maximize reusability. It's great for hobbies like sewing, woodworking, stained glass, or any time you need to cut multiple shapes out of sheets of material. While Optimik's free version is fully functional, some modules limit the total number of records.
Optimik launches with a database tool (with Language and Help options) that let us access our local database or a Database on Server (which requires log-on). We opened Demo_EN, the English language demo database. We mentioned that Optimik is modular, with modules such as Products, Jobs, Cutting Plans, and Stock for handling specific tasks from a Start page that also accesses Program Settings, Backup, and other features. The individual tools combine elements of an Explorer layout and a spreadsheet with photo thumbnails, color highlights, and tree-view navigation. Toolbars at the bottom of each pane make it easy to edit or update any display. We clicked "Cutting Plans." The Demo depicts a pattern for cutting an 18mm MDF panel into a variety of configurations based on the dimensions of the pieces to be cut out.
